We are a non-partisan, grassroots, all-volunteer organization. The League of Women Voters promotes political responsibility through informed and active participation of citizens in government and takes action on selected governmental issues. The League does not support or oppose any political party or candidate. Through its Voter Service activities, the League provides nonpartisan information on the structure and functions of government and the political parties and on voting procedures, election issues, and candidates.
The League of Women Voters believes in representative government and in the individual liberties established in the Constitution of the United States. The League of Women Voters believes that democratic government depends upon the informed and active participation of its citizens and requires that governmental bodies protect the citizen's right to know by giving adequate notice of proposed actions, holding open meetings, and making public records. The League's general meetings, which will be announced on this website, are free and open to the public and are usually held at locations which are easily accessible.
