John was born November 12, 1914 and passed away July 27, 2007. He graduated from Topeka High School and the University of Kansas and held a masters degree in counseling and guidance from the University of Missiouri at Kansas City. He retired from the postion of counselor at the US Disciiplinary Barracks at Ft Leavenworth, KS where he took pride in his establishment of a Junior College program. John is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty M. Nichols, two sons Douglas M. Nichols and Dr.John Doland Nichols and a grandson Zachary Nichols.

John had a fine mind and a generous heart, both of which he lavished on those around him.
