Election 2017

Thr ballot for the fall general election has candidates for:

  • City Offices (mayor and city council seats)
  • School Boards
  • Johnson County Community College Board of Trustees
  • Water District #1 of Johnson County

All these positions are nonpartisan. Check to see who has filed as a candidate:  Unofficial candidate filings

To vote in the November 7 general election, you must be registered by October 17, 2017.

Countdown to Election Day

Oct. 1 – 31: Apply for an advance ballot
Oct. 17: Registration books close – last day to register
Oct. 18: Advance voting by mail begins.
Oct. 18 – Nov. 7: Preview your sample ballot
Oct. 30: Advance voting in person begins at six sites
Nov. 6: Advance voting closes (12 noon) at Election Office only
Nov. 7: FALL GENERAL ELECTION (Polls open 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

 

How to Register to Vote in Johnson County

League of Women Voters Kansas now recommends using the federal form for voter registration. The federal form does not require proof of citizenship.

Suspense List
Did you know that 5,067 Johnson County residents have not completed their voter registration? Their names are on the voter suspense list. Check to see if you know anyone on the June 2017 voter suspense list.

 

If using the Kansas voter registration form, follow these steps:

   Step #1 Fill out the voter registration form
   Step #2 Provide proof of U.S. citizenship

Birth certificate verifying US citizenship
US Passport (valid or expired)
Naturalization document
