After the VOTE - What you can do after Election Day?
Inform yourself about the issues that are impacting your neighborhood, or your family, or those that will affect your future. Contact your elected representative on the city council and get on his/her mailing list. This is a great source of information about what is happening. Contact your representative in the state legislature and get on their email list. This will not only give you insight into current issues in your neighborhood, but will allow you to determine and hopefully influence your representative's views on the issues. Former President Nixon's administration coined the phrase, the "Silent Majority," to describe a passive electorate who does not actively participate in their own government by speaking out, writing letters or calling legislators to inform them of their views. Don't be part of the unheard majority. Be sure you are a participant in our democracy, not a silent bystander. Check out the other websites listed under "Links"
