One of our nation's most critical essential services is under attack. The U.S. Postal Service serves every American household. It delivers essential supplies, paychecks, census mailers and much more. It has been on the frontlines of the current pandemic ensuring that Americans remain connected and safe. Here are some postal facts you may not know:
- The Postal Service is one of the largest employers of veterans in the country.
- The Postal Service employs more than 7.3 million people.
- The Postal Service is secure. U.S. Mail is protected by more than 200 laws enforced by the Postal Inspection Service.
- The Postal Service received NO tax dollars.
In addition, 80% of outpatient prescriptions to veterans are sent by mail, according to ConnectingVets. And, per The New York Times if every single person voted by mail in the general election, it would result in less mail than a typical holiday season.
Voters should not be forced to choose between their health and their fundamental right to vote. Senators Moran and Roberts and Representative Davis support legislation to provide emergency funding to the USPS. Thank them today for that support, and tell them why you agree that we need to protect and fully fund the U.S. Postal Service.
