Whenever members are asked where the League should focus in the future, reaching younger voters is frequently mentioned. The Communications Committee needs help with our social media accounts. This activity can be done on your schedule, and shared among members of the committee.

Postcard Party 2023

Postcard Parties

Coordinated by the Voter Information Committee, League members have been reaching out to voters with a personal touch.
 
A big "Thank You!" to the 47 volunteers, and to two other organizations that also held card parties, for writing 2,000 postcards!

Stay engaged and informed

 
🗳️ Candidates participating in our Voter Information events were invited to create one-minute videos. View them on our YouTube Channel.
 
🎤 Does your group need a speaker? Trained representatives of LWVJoCo are eager to speak to schools, churches, companies, neighborhood associations and other groups. The Speaker's Bureau offers interesting and nonpartisan presentations on a wide range of timely topics. We can adapt our presentations to meet your group’s needs, from a short 20-minute overview to a longer presentation and discussion. No fees are required for our knowledgeable volunteer speakers to speak to your group. More information.
 
📰  A recent article in the Kansas Reflector cites studies on the effectiveness of Universal Vote by Mail (UVM):
  • "A 2022 paper by Eric McGhee and Jennifer Paluch of the Public Policy Institute of California and Mindy Romero of the University of Southern California found that UVM increased turnout among registered voters by 5.6 percentage points in the 2020 election — what the authors called “a substantial and robust positive effect.”"
  • "A 2018 paper by the data firm Pantheon Analytics, which works for Democrats and progressive groups, compared Utah counties that used UVM with those that didn’t, and found that the system boosted turnout by 5-7 percentage points among registered voters."
  • "And a forthcoming paper by Michael Ritter of Washington State University, to be published in the November 2023 edition of the Election Law Journal, looks at various mail voting systems over the last decade and finds that UVM led to an 8-point increase in registered voter turnout."
